Research projects
Every dollar we raise supports medical research
to unlock knowledge and find cures for mental illness.
Depression and Suicide Prevention Fellowship
Funding from 2024 - 2026
In this role, the Research Fellow will investigate the feasibility and plausibility of a range of identified molecules as targets for depression, anxiety, fear and risk-taking behaviours
Research Partner
Schizophrenia Project -
Single-cell RNA Sequencing
Funding from 2023 - 2024
Scholarship recipient Angel Yoneharawill is undertaking her PhD in an innovative part of the psychiatry field. She is applying a new technique recently developed in the Translational Molecular Psychiatry Program called single cell RNA sequencing. This allows researchers to understand gene changes within individual cell types of the brain.
Research Partner
Menopausal Depression Pilot Trial
Funding from 2024 - 2025
This project is investigating new treatment pathways for women with menopausal depression through a trial using the
hormone oestrogen.
Research Partner

Funding from 2024 - 2026
Associate Professor Rachel Hill and her team are seeking to understand the impact of COVID-19 during pregnancy on the brain development of the child, potential links and biomarkers, and if affected children are more at risk of
complex mental illness.
Research Parner

Funding from 2022 - 2025
Experienced researchers at the HER Centre Australia will work with the research fellow to investigate biological causes and novel treatments for eating disorders as part of the THRED (Transformative Hub for Research in Eating Disorders) program at Monash Health.
Research Partner
Brain Cell Connections & Cognition Disorders Fellowship
Funding from
Associate Professor Jess Nithianantharajah is working to understand disruptions in brain connectivity that lead to cognitive and mood disorders. Her research aims to deliver precision medicine and individualised treatments for disorders such as schizophrenia and anxiety.
