Too many families are forced to watch loved ones suffer with treatments that are decades old. In Australia right now, suicide is the leading cause of death for people aged 15 to 49. This year, one in five Australians will experience mental ill health and nearly half within our lifetime. And the truth is, without proper investment in research these numbers don’t change.

Promising young researchers leave the field, or the country, because funding runs out. Lives are cut short not because science failed, but because funding vital research failed. Every year of underinvestment means more lives lost, more futures unfulfilled, and more families grieving outcomes that could one day be preventable.​​​​
