The Extremely Long Lunch is One in Five's signature annual fundraising event, bringing together community leaders, corporate partners, researchers, advocates and supporters for an unforgettable afternoon of connection, inspiration and impact.


Held in the iconic Olympic Room at the MCG, guests enjoy a premium long lunch experience featuring exceptional food and wine, entertainment, inspiring speakers, auctions, raffles and powerful stories that highlight the importance of mental health research.


Since its inception, the Extremely Long Lunch has helped raise significant funds to support groundbreaking medical research into mental illness, including depression and suicide prevention, eating disorders, women's mental health and other complex mental health conditions.


More than a fundraising event, the Extremely Long Lunch is an opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate hope, honour those affected by mental illness, and invest in research that has the power to change and save lives.

Join us for an unforgettable afternoon as we celebrate more than 22 years of raising funds for world-leading mental health research.


This year, proceeds will support two critical Fellowships: one into Eating Disorders and another into Depression and Suicide Prevention.


Your hosts for the day are actor brothers, Celebrity Amazing Race stars, and proud One in Five Ambassadors, Bernard and Stephen Curry. Plus, hear from Associate Professor Rachel Hill of Monash Health, who will share the latest insights and progress from the groundbreaking research funded by One in Five, highlighting the real-world impact of supporters’ generosity and the advancements being made in developing better treatments, discovering cures, and giving hope to people living with mental illness.


Each ticket includes:
~ A 3-course meal with beer, wine, and soft drinks
~ Live entertainment throughout the afternoon
~ Exciting raffles and auctions

Head of Synapse Biology and Cognition Laboratory at The Florey Institute, Associate Professor Jess Nithianantharajah, will share research updates on brain patterns and the impact of One in Five on her research and career.

Women's Mental Health Lunch

Depression in women in their mid-40’s to early 50’s is a significant problem. An estimated 40% of perimenopausal women present to their primary healthcare physicians with depressive symptoms. Not coincidentally, suicide rates for women are highest in the 45–64 age group. 


One in Five have partnered with HER Centre Australia to conduct new research to better understand and treat menopausal depression.


Join us for a sit-down lunch to raise funds for research into the mental effects of perimenopause and menopause.
