Extreme Challenge 2006

The One in Five team on the inaugural Extreme Challenge

In 2005 Ryan Wavish approached One in Five to establish their first Extreme Challenge called "Kokoda Blue" - a trek across the Kokoda Trail to raise money and awareness for mental illness – especially the benefits of exercise for mental health. Group Exercise Therapy conducted specific training sessions for the trekkers, raised loads of money, provided opportunities for our clients to get involved and finally led the group successfully across the Owen Stanley Ranges.

The trek took place in May 2006 and raised over $50,000. The story of the trek was also told to an audience of over 1 million people through exposure in the Herald Sun and several local newspapers. Proceeds were donated to The Mental Health Research Institute of Victoria (http://www.mhri.edu.au/).
